MICRODERMABRASION
Microdermabrasion is a cosmetic technique that uses a mechanical medium for exfoliation to remove the outermost layer of dead skin cells from the skin 's surface. Microdermabrasion can provide substantial improvements in irregular skin tones, aged and sun-damaged skin. It also helps to correct fine lines and wrinkles, age spots, and superficial pigmentation. It provides general exfoliation, skin rejuvenation, reduces blackheads and whiteheads, and helps alleviate post-traumatic pigmentation.
Risk and Side Effects:
- Burning sensation or stinging may occur during the treatment.
- Possible side effects include but are not limited to: peeling, tightness, mild to extreme redness, suction marks, wind-burn sensation, dry and flaking skin.
- The results of this treatment may vary due to conditions such as age, condition of the skin, sun damage, damage due to smoking, climate, etc.
- Some patients may experience redness, irritation, dryness, post treatment acne flares, or folliculitis.
- Blemishes and/or cold sore may result after the treatment.
- This treatment is a cosmetic treatment and no medical claims are expressed or implied.
Before Treatment:
- Inform your provider if you have a history of facial and/or nasal herpes to receive advice or antiviral therapy prior the treatment.
- 7 DAYS before treatment: Avoid chemical peels, waxing, electrolysis. Laser treatments or threading within 7 days before and after this treatment.
- 5 DAYS before treatment: Do not receive injections of Botox, Collagen, juvederm, Restylane, Perlane, or other injections.
- 3 DAYS before treatment: Avoid topical products such as Trentinon (Retin-A), Retinols, Retinoids, Glycolic Acid, alpha Hydroxy Acid, or other anti- aging, acne, and bleaching products. Also Avoid waxing, bleaching, tweezing, or the use of hair removal cream on the area to be treated.
- Avoid excessive sun exposure and wear a broad- spectrum sunscreen daily of SPF 30 or higher.
Day of Treatment:
Please arrive to the office with a CLEAN FACE. Please do not wear makeup, if possible.
AFTERCARE ADVICE
- It is normal for the skin to appear red and inflamed. Light scabs may form in the treated
- Experiencing initial dryness, flaking, and a feeling of mild sunburn is normal

- Avoid alcohol, spicy foods, heat treatments and hard physical activity for 24 hrs.
- Discontinue use of all topical products for 48 hours following the treatment.
- Use a gentle moisturizer as needed.
- Clean the skin with a mild cleanser.
- Avoid touching the area following your treatment with unwashed hands.
- Avoid wearing make up for 24 hours. If wearing makeup after this time, always

Local Contraindication:
- Cuts/Abrasions
- Scars tissue (Six months minor operation, two years mejor operation)
- Bruising/swelling
- Areas where topical Roaccutane has been used
- Undiagnosed lumps and bumps
- Sunburn
- Heat rash
- Recent fractures (3 months)
Medical Contraindications:
- Check any Condition that is already being treated by GP or another practitioner
- Consult with a doctor if you are taking any medication that may have an effect on skin sensitivity, condition or blood.
- Medical Oedema
- Nervous/ Psychotic conditions
- Diabetes
- Laser resurfacing
- Medium or deep skin peels
- Pregnancy
Total Contraindications:
- Wait 24 hours after taking Retin-A/ Retinova
- Prior Peel (wait one week)
- Laser hair removal (wait one week)
- Scar tissue (wait six months minor operation, 2 years major operation)
- Recent fractures (3 months)
- Oral Roaccutane Medication
- Oral blood thinners
- Contagious diseases (Impetigo, Scabies, Chicken pox, Mumps)
- Under the influence of (Alcohol, Drugs, Prescribed Pain medication)
- Neuralgia
- Hypersensitive skin
- Loss of skin sensation
- Vascular skin
- Irritated skin/Sunburn/ Broken skin
- Fever
- Skin Cancer/chemotherapy
- Vascular legions/Rosacea
